I was near Marshall University. After my hospital call at St. Mary’s Medical Center, I decided to stop by the INTO office. Here, Marshall encourages students from around the world to enlist in affordable, top-quality degrees in business, science and technology. They have students from 56 countries, and counting.
It’s exciting just to enter the INTO office. The kind young ladies working the front desk were incredibly helpful. But more than that, they were excited! They were absolutely thrilled that I was going to Central Asia. When I mentioned the specific country that I was going to, they were even more animated. When they checked their database, they did not have any students from where I was headed.
My intention was to meet some students from this undisclosed country and get some “boots on the ground” wisdom from students that had grown up there. Who knows, maybe they would want me to bring their parents a handwritten letter.
Before I left, I told the ladies in the office that I would look for some students over there and send them to Marshall. That would put their country count up to 57. They were elated.
As I walked out, I wondered why they were more excited than almost anyone I had spoken to about my Central Asia campaign. They are not more excited about reaching new people for Marshall than Christians are in reaching new people for Christ, are they?
Well, if you need a boost of excitement go visit the INTO office. It’s a wonderful refreshing atmosphere with people from all over the world interested in learning and hanging out with people from different cultures and with unique world views. This would be a great attitude for us all to have. Amen?
